Q: What method do you use to treat anxiety disorders?
A: I utilize Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), which is the gold standard in treating anxiety disorders, OCD and OCD related disorders. Panic disorder is treated using Interoceptive Exposures. Exposure and Response Prevention falls underneath the umbrella of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
Q: How long will it take me to feel better?
A: There is no set time for when someone will start to feel some relief from their anxiety. Progress (and relief) depends on one's willingness and motivation to follow through with the work done in and out of the therapy office.
Q: Do I have a voice in this work?
A: Absolutely! I favor a collaborative approach to treatment, which means that we both have a voice in the treatment process! I always say that you have the expertise in what your anxiety feels/looks like and I have the expertise in treating that anxiety. Put those two pieces together and things will change for the better!
Q: Do I need to fill out forms?
A: Yes, please! Here is my informed consent packet for you to fill out and bring to session. If you plan on using your Anthem/Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance plan, I also need you to fill out the Health Insurance Authorization Form.
